Are you serious? You'd like to know more about my total immersion writing? Well, okay! :)
Whenever I think about vending at a ren fest, or running my own shop, I am inspired by the atmosphere that I imagine. Be it waking up before sunrise, looking out of the tent, across the promenade to my quaint’ little vendor’s booth, or plodding down stairs to get the coffee started and the new age CD’s playing, the thought of a magical setting really gets my gears turning. I’ve plotted shops and stores for days and weeks with these silly notions dancing between my ears. Why wouldn’t it work to finish a novel?
So, what I’m going to start doing is this: I’m going to set up the writing room in such a way that it can be decorated to reflect the setting of whatever novel I’m working on. I’ll put together a collection of recipes, music and imaginary customs to indulge in while I write, and for as long as it takes to finish a novel, I will totally immerse myself in the story world. It will be like character acting, only, the author’s version.
